Just starting – becoming an ICT geek!

Wow, what a two weeks.  My confidence in ICT for the Primary Classroom has been completely re-energised.

Recently I have been introduce by a primary teacher to Twitter as an excellent resource to gather information about ICT in education.  So I dutifully signed up and it was not to long before someone talked about Moodles and VLEs – which I in turn had to Google to find what on earth they were they were going on about.

My next stop was to create a blog, as my aim is to set one up for school so I needed to know how to us one.  I know I might sound like I’ve just come out of the ark but I really had no idea. So I wrote my first blog (on a different site) by searching blog in my trusted friend Google. I didn’t know what to write about so I talked about what I had done in my planning that week.  Well I was blown away.  I had 53 visits and 5 people left some really helpful comments (probably quite small fry).  I realised that I didn’t need to talk about something a knew really well, but about my experience and other people could take it or leave it.

From there I’m signed in to delicious, flash meet, tutpup, tweetdeck, jing, and have enjoyed reading many people’s blogs.

I only just finding my feet and my husband now thinks I am a top class geek, which is fine by me.  So if you’re just beginning in you ICT journey be encouraged you can get geek status!
